The gorges of the Caylus limestone plateaux
Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, known during the Revolution as Libre-Val, is a commune in the north-east of the Tarn et Garonne département, in the Occitanie region. Historically and culturally, the town lies on the Causse de Caylus, at the crossroads of the Quercy and Rouergue regions.
The grotte du Bosc is a cave dug out by an underground river in the commune of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, at a place called le Bosc de la Cam. It was discovered on 2 September 1936.
The fortress of Penne is an 11th-century fortified castle, now in ruins. The castle dates back to Merovingian times. Its exceptional location has enabled it to play a leading role in the history of Quercy.
The castles of Bruniquel form a group of castles situated on a high cliff 90 metres above the Aveyron as it emerges from its gorges. Legend has it that it was the Merovingian queen Brunehaut who had the first castle (“château vieux” or “castel biel”) built in the 6th century on the site of a Roman castrum. The film “Le vieux fusil” was shot here.
Discover a former Cistercian abbey, now home to an exceptional collection of modern art, set in a garden of a thousand roses.
On the borders of Quercy and Rouergue, Caylus has dominated the Bonnette valley since Roman times. With its two castles dating from the 12th and 19th centuries, its sloping hills and its artificial lake at the foot of the village, Caylus is a beautiful town of medieval architecture.
The Bastide de Rouergue par excellence! An impressive collegiate church dominates the square. Visit the Chartreuse St Sauveur, built in the 15th century and a masterpiece of Gothic art.
The impressive fortified cathedral of St Cécile is one of a kind. The Berbie Palace, former palace of the archbishops of Albi.
The vineyards cover more than 4,000 hectares, with a wide variety of red, white and rosé grapes. You can visit some of the cellars. You can also visit Saint Michel Abbey, Saint-Pierre Church and Foucaud Castle.
Here you can visit the Mine Museum, which is firmly rooted in its time, using new technologies for sound and lighting, and a more modern scenography to welcome visitors and immerse them in the day-to-day life of the miners. But the museum has not abandoned its roots, with its own special features and atmosphere.

Entre Rouergue et Albigeois, le village-forteresse de Lagarde Viaur a su
préserver au fil des siècles les vestiges de sa riche histoire et toute son
harmonie architecturale. Croisade contre les Albigeois, rôle de poste
frontière avec le territoire anglais, système défensif du village, ses métiers,
sa vie ou bien encore les vicissitudes du père d’Honoré de Balzac, voici
ce que nous vous proposons de découvrir en suivant ce circuit du
patrimoine.
Ce village fortifié servait à garder les Gorges du Viaur lors des conflits de l'époque cathare. Aujourd'hui déambulez dans ses ruelles grâce à un circuit du patrimoine.
Découverte de l'ancienne citadelle cathare assaillie par Simon de Monfort, qui fut propriété des évêques d'Albi.
Le bourg fortifié devint poste frontière au 14e siècle, en subsistent les vestiges des remparts et le clocher-fortifié.

L'Association Vivre à Lagarde Viaur propose de nombreuses animations sur site.
Partez à la découverte du patrimoine local du petit village de Bor-et-Bar formé de plusieurs hameaux. Vous pourrez profiter de magnifiques vues sur la vallée du Viaur, qui constitue un site Natura 2000 grâce à une grande diversité d'habitats et d'espèces.

Partez en balade en forêt le long du ruisseau de la Mine puis du Viaur avant de remonter vers le village de Bor-et-Bar. Vous aurez l'occasion de découvrir de jolis points de vue sur la vallée du Viaur !

Cette commune de 200 habitants est constituée de deux villages, Bor sur le rebord de la vallée et Bar, plus bas sur la rive du Viaur. Le village très pittoresque conserve de vieilles maisons en schiste à couvertures de lauzes. Il est très ancien, puisque cité en 972 dans le testament de la comtesse Garsinde de Toulouse. Chaque entité possède son église et la commune compte pas moins de 4 chapelles : la chapelle du Couvent des Dominicaines de Bor, la chapelle Sainte Catherine à Bar, la chapelle du Capitoul et la chapelle Sainte Marie.
