Tour quiet easy around Najac to discover very old fountains in wooded and quiet surroundings. Start possible from the holiday village VAL-VVF at the locality Puech Moutonniers.
Essential to the village life the fountains were supplied by drainage water from the Terre-Rouge/La Planquette plateau. They are called “griffouls”.
The first fountain was built in 1344 in the Bourguet area into a granite block. Some ancient consuls and bishops faces are sculpted on it. The fountain was used until the beginning of the 20th century.

Nice footpath with varied landscapes. First part on the hills and trip back along the river Aveyron with shade, ideal place when the weather is warm. Several places of interest all along the tour. Start possible from the Holiday Village VAL-VVF.
The Chestnut tree was (with the rye) the basic foods for a long time. It saved a lot of inhabitants from the famine in times of scarcity.

This route also features some interesting sights to discover:
The dry hillside of Liversenq (115 ha), on the northern slope of the Grain de Sel, is classified as a natural area of ecological, faunistic, and floristic interest (ZNIEFF). It features dry grasslands with rocky outcrops, hosting a variety of orchids and songbirds such as the Lark, Wood Pigeon, Hoopoe, Water Pipit, and Reed Warbler.
On the plateau of Grain de Sel, you will pass near two concrete trees (private property) built in the 1970s by an artist who envisioned a forest of concrete covered in vegetation. Only two trees were completed.
On the slope leading towards Cordes, a spring once fed the large cistern still located under the road junction at Place de la Bouteillerie in Cordes.
The Cérou valley, a place of passage and agricultural cultivation, has preserved its isolated farms and hamlets, some water mills, and beautiful late 19th-century residences (La Gazelle, La Borie Grande). You will also encounter the remains of the short-lived Carmaux–Vindrac railway (1937-1939). Along the banks of the Cérou River, with observation and patience, you might spot fish and crayfish in the cool, clear waters, as well as herons, coypu, hares, and deer amidst the remarkable trees.

From the hills of Mouzieys-Panens, the northern profile of Cordes commands attention: the medieval city stretches out like a sleeping dragon above the Cérou Valley, imprinting its presence on the walker who eagerly awaits the moment when the city's silhou
The route takes you through the village of Mouzieys, an old lookout village responsible for monitoring Cordes. Take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful view of Cordes from the Téroundel. Follow the signage for "Téroundel 1 km."
In the hamlet of Lacapelle-Sainte-Lucie, you'll find a shaded rest stop with a water point, a picnic area, and an informational panel about the local small heritage (feel free to take a few steps to see the washhouse).

An enjoyable and relatively easy introductory circuit through the hills between the villages of Roussayrolles and St. Michel de Vax, with a challenging climb.
In Roussayrolles, you can visit the 13th-century church of "Notre-Dame," which has housed frescoes by Nicolaï Greschny, a renowned master of iconography, since 1952. You will also discover the Touron washhouse and the old stone crosses that mark the paths.
As you descend towards the Pas de la Clède and the heights of the commune of St. Michel de Vax, you will enjoy stunning views of the Bonnan and Laussière valleys. Be sure to pay attention to the vegetation and flowers of the Causse along the way.
